The benefits of of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.
Bodywork sessions vary according to the needs of each client. Those needs are defined at during our initial session and can be modifed as needed. When working with pain due to long term stress, trauma, or injury, it is necessary to take a therapeutic approach to massage. Following an interview with you, we set up a series of goals for relieving your discomfort. Once these goals are defined, bodywork sessions will include a variety of techniques including myofascial work combined with movement, ACE cupping, and/or stretching.
All of these modalities are based on the concept of the Indirect To Direct approach. Because so many of us have developed a lifetime of habituated patterns that create discomfort and even pain, we often loose the connection to ourselves. The first step to Reconnect, or begin to develop our Body Sense. Rather than working directly on the areas of pain, the goal is to work with the areas that are creating the discomfort, using hands on myofascial and craniosacral techniques.
I also use the MELT Method so clients can work at home. The MELT Method is a hands off bodywork that uses a soft roller for the body and small balls for the hands and feet,
Once that connect is made and you develop an idea of where imbalances are in your body the we begin the table work. We begin with craniosacral therapy, the slowly work into using myofascial techniques. Myofascial bodywork involves anchoring into tissues and waiting for a response. Both of these techniques are based on neurofascial science. These sessions require a commitment on both the part of the bodyworker and the client. Sessions may be weekly/biweekly for six weeks or longer. At the beginning of each session, progress is checked and the session is modified according to the needs of the client.
